CSLNewsCSLN Collections Cross State Lines While the growth of CSLN as measured in new states and new insurance companies is very exciting, the real measure of the success of the Network is the positive impact it makes in the lives of children across the country. Tony Passaro, with the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Family Development, was kind enough to share this success story that demonstrates how CSLN, and their hard work, made a difference in the lives of four children in two states. The New Jersey Office of Child Support Services represented a custodial parent from Missouri with two children and a custodial parent from New Jersey who also has two children versus an obligor who was involved in a workman’s compensation case that had been in the courts for close to two and ½ years. He hadn’t paid child support since July 2002 in one of the cases, and hadn’t paid any child support in the second case since the order was entered in September 2004. On Monday, November 8, 2004, after over two years of litigation, a New Jersey Workman’s Compensation Court ordered the obligor to pay $31,577.00 from his award to his four children. His award was applied as follows: $30,732.00 towards a debt of $45,102.00 in one case and $845.00 to totally pay off the debt in the second case. Four children in two states now have a brighter future. Congratulations to the New Jersey staff for your persistence. What a difference you have made in the lives of these children! |
